Different products, but I had the same experience with the dabbler. All of a sudden the battery would jot work with the cartrdige screwed on. But when it was off the battery worked fine. A replacement battery fixed the issue. Hope you get yours resolved. Interested in your continued testing

I always make sure the words hercules SR71 and the caution hot are on the bottom. I never have threaded it on the wrong way. I did get it used as you know, but when i first got it, it fit fine. So Im not sure how it got cross threaded
