I emailed S&B about this with the same picture of aluminum dust that I posted here. Sent the email the night of 12/29/2019. So far, no response.
If we don’t hear anything from S&B next week, I’m going to reach out to Canopy Growth and see where that takes us.
Is the Crafty+ a different material? From my understanding the Crafty/Mighty plastic has always been PEEK.
e.g. here's a post referencing PEEK from the Crafty thread, dated 2015 http://fuckcombustion.com/threads/the-crafty-by-storz-bickel.15984/page-242#post-848062
Personally, I ordered a Ditanium to get me through this rough patch with the Hybrid.
I’m going to try and make a setup where I can use the S&B capsules with the Ditanium: http://fuckcombustion.com/threads/ditanium-vaporizer.26785/page-16#post-1437220
Any advice is appreciated!
The Hybrid has a different airpath design. From what I understand, when you use a whip with the classic/digital you're pulling air through the pump.
On the Hybrid, when you use the whip, the valve switches so that the pump is bypassed (better airflow).
It's in the S&B demo video from ~0:43 to...
I think it’s a good idea at face value. Lubrication reduces friction, less friction means less metal dust.
In practice though, the metal pieces are going up to ~450°F. You’d likely be vaping the beeswax at that point. You’d have to re-apply it every time too since it would melt off and/or...
I ordered a handful of glass adapters from the Oregon Glass Blower (OGB). Right now I'm thinking it'll be:
Ditanium -> 14mm female to 18mm male -> Capsule -> screen -> 18mm female to whip adapter
If that works, it'll get the herb pretty close to the Ditanium (which should be a good thing from...
I know a lot of people are skeptical of aluminum in general. Given the chatter I've seen, it's an understandable position to take. This is my take: http://fuckcombustion.com/threads/volcano-hybrid.36986/page-54#post-1436996
Right now, my main concern with the Hybrid is the friction that...
TL;DR - I'm trying to replace my Volcano Hybrid with a Ditanium, without losing the ability to use capsules.
I like to use the capsules because it lets me front-load the work of grinding/packing/portioning. The Mighty is my go-to portable flower vape, and using the capsules allows me to...
Does anyone know if you can use S&B dosing capsules with the Ditanium? I'm wondering if the capsules will fit in either the glass or titanium hand-piece.
Specifically, if you unscrew the titanium hand-piece, will an S&B dosing capsule fit in that space? It looks like it would fit, but I doubt...
Just put a reservation down, looking forward to trying this out. Thanks for taking the initiative @maxvapor710 !
I haven't used one of my grasshoppers in almost a year (since I got it back from warranty and realized all of my older batteries were essentially shot).
My second hopper needs to be...
My materials education is limited, but I do know most (if not all) "safe" metals will have an oxide layer. Without an oxide layer between the metal and the outside world, the metal would rust (which wouldn't be safe!). For example, stainless steel has a layer of chromium oxide that protects the...
A replacement of the Hybrid (in its current form) isn't a long term solution.
The Hybrid's heating element and chamber have two aluminum disks that twist against each other, which inherently creates aluminum dust.
If you're extremely careful it might not end up being much dust, and that might...
What is the "status" of your registration? It didn't take long to type in the details, but the status of mine is "pending." I'm assuming it will remain that way until someone from S&B confirms it on their end (as Apparition87 alluded to earlier).
I never registered it. Good idea though, I'll pull it back out of the box and try now.
EDIT - for those who read this later, you can find the serial number on the bottom of the box. No need to unpack the unit itself if you already boxed it up.
It’s a surprise to me too, I didn’t notice it was a different color until you guys pointed it out.
It seems similar to the color change the top gray part of the Mighty bowl goes through.
I always thought the Mighty bowl changed color from resin accumulation, but perhaps not (since I don't know...
Yes, the ring is starting to discolor.
This is a pic of the same unit from the side. You can see the bottom of the ring is more the original gray color.
I’ve been using the Hybrid daily since I got it in early August. I use a workflow that starts at 356°F and goes to max temperature.
I...
For those who doubt there is aluminum dust, here is a close-up picture I took of the top of my Volcano Hybrid. There are a few dog hairs in the picture for scale (unintentional!). You can clearly see aluminum dust buildup surrounding the heating ring.
I didn’t do a chemical test on the dust...
