The control allows you to drop the temperature way down for very tasty hits just like with the glass heater cover. I would have to do a side by side taste comparison to be sure of any differences. I only tried one bowl with the original configuration as I acquired it with the intention of the...

    Vaping with cotton

You are welcome decaptain. I was so excited to see how well the filter works. I was trying to figure out why the Sublimator was delivering such smooth hits. The oil it produces was a clue. That oil had to be coming from somewhere. Larger particles of oil in the vapor will have more energy and be...

Degummed Hemp Fiber You can also do a google search for degummed hemp fiber and maybe find a better deal. They even sell it on Amazon. The price seems about the same but I have only been able to find it sold in KG's. A KG is about the size of a pillow.

    Vaping with cotton

Just received a box of organic hemp fiber in the mail. It works so much better than cotton. There is no clumping and it allows very good air flow. The oily hemp fiber roasts very well too. Lots of air flow for very big clouds. The hemp fiber should also work well in my copper aromatherapy cups...

    The HI

I would say get CentiZen's MVVPS. You might want to try a cheaper quality one in the mean time. The lower price one might be the best option because you will need to spend a more money for the cord anyhow. You can't really use the cord that comes with the more expensive one (except for...

    The HI

Thanks everyone. This new design is allowing so many more possibilities. I even figured out how to hold onto wood that is smaller than 1.5" so I can start with even smaller wood blanks. A briar burl HI might even be a possibility. CentiZen - That tube started as a solid rod of polypropylene. I...

    The HI

I keep thinking that I will run out of ideas for roasting tubes. Seems there are still more configurations. I turned a 14mm PonG tube and bored a 13mm hole into one end. The 13mm glass roasting tube from the U Tube fits right down into the hole with a 1/2" screen placed at the bottom. It is...

    The HI

I have only ever subjected the HI to 15 volts since that is the limit of my VVPS. It was only for about 15 minutes to see what would happen. Not a recommended practice. Extra care should be taken if the VVPS goes to 18 volts. The HI should always be at ~12 volts or less for continuous operation.

to cough or not to cough

They always told me that "if you don't cough, you don't get off". Seriously though, nobody wants to cough. I have been looking for ways to make the vapor smoother. I'm finding that filtration of the vapor through cotton makes more of a difference that water filtration. It seems that the...

    The HI

The heat up time is 5 minutes with 12 volts applied. It will heat up faster with a few more volts applied, but there is a risk of damaging the heating element if too many volts are applied for too long. I usually just leave mine running 24/7 so I don't even have to wait 5 minutes. natural...

The power supply is not included in the $135. Some people already have a power supply (or VVPS) and don't need the additional cost. I make too many different styles / variations / combinations of tubes to include just one. You can select the exact tube for your style of roasting. I have not yet...

Life Saber (LSV) by Elev8 Vehicles

No need to remove the stainless tube to install the glass cover. It fits right over the stainless tube using a shim at the base. The screen in the glass cover will need to be removed but there is one in the end of the stainless tube protecting the heating element. It works with all of the LSV...

    Cooling vapor without water?

I'm finding it is the size of the volatilized oil particles that determine the smoothness more than the temperature of the vapor. A cotton filter in the mouthpiece tube makes a tremendous difference.

Life Saber (LSV) by Elev8 Vehicles

I'm thinking that the heating element should last longer since I don't have to turn it up so far to get the roasting temps I desire. The stainless steel needs less heat to create the hot air than the glass since it is so much smaller in mass. That is also why it can heat up and be ready in 1...

    The HI

Finally got some good light yesterday to take a photo of mvapes spalted maple burl HI. It sort of looks to me like a puppy dog head on the left side and the floppy dog ear is the beard of some guy with a big ear. The spalting is sort of in the shape of Florida. The wood seems to always hold...

Thanks mom. I should probably post the photos of my tops in the Toasty Top thread. I also need to get a few more of them made. clarko - I mostly use direct draw with my HI. The Vapor Lung is my apparatus of choice. I have found that it is the oil particle size that creates the feeling of...

    Vaping with cotton

The tube on the right is from buildup. I let it go way to long as I wanted to show the contrast. It was difficult to roast as I couldn't get good air flow through all the oil. It just dripped pure oil into the mouthpiece tube until the cotton would allow enough air though it for roasting. Every...

Thanks Jam and JJ420. I'm liking the new WonG shape. I just made a WonG tube that has a taper so long that it will fit into either a 14mm or an 18mm fitting. Waiting for some good light to get a picture. exit - Thanks. The WonG tubes can be made with or without metal tubes. Any tube...

    Vaping with cotton

I have found a method for loading the cotton filter into the mouthpiece tube that makes a big difference and allows for very good air flow. Start with a piece of fluffy cotton about 2 or 3 inches long and fold it in half. Insert the cotton into the glass tube by pushing on the fold part of the...

Ed's TnT Wooden Vapor Tubes & Vapor Stems

That's a whole lotta lathe there Ed. You can build almost anything with that. It is a giant version of my metal lathe. I have to bolt my drill press to the tool post if I want to have a configuration like you have. You can also use it to precisely turn wood tubes so that your solo bushings will...
