@invertedisdead
from your reply i personally think that the induction based unit sounds the most promising and innovative. Nothing like that on the market yet, except for the tempest. Which works amazingly, but can be a bit of a hassle to load, let cool down etc…
So an induction based desktop...
No, you are not overthinking. I also have that concern. Solution is simple: call my old electronics guru and beg him to help me out :) He is way more knowledgeable than i am.
Thanks, got you now!
i hope the manufacturer is aware of this. I will ask regarding the inverter. Obviously it would be pointless if thats how it works. on the other hand it might still be safer, as the cable (where things go wrong the easiest due to movement) would only carry the 24v...
Thanks for your edit Breadstick,
i will use the ssr output to trigger an external solid state relay. So its the output to the right on your schematic.
It gives out 10mA@17vdc. Should work. The relay output will only be used to shut off the unit in case of overheating. My main concern is the...
Thanks Breadstick,
i understand everything you are saying, except for the safety concern. You mean by having a high current on the XLR the plugs are way above their rating? True, but I would simply not use xlr. The necessary current (around 4.2A) requires a cable diameter of 1.5mm anyways. Or...
Ok, I got an email from the china coil manufacturer. They can make a 24v coil with 100w. It runs on dc. So the pid further up in the thread should work, as it just triggers a ssr. So instead of feeding 230vac to the relay, i simply feed it 24vdc. I will also buy a 230v coil in order to test the...
Im actually nerdy/stupid enough to have written an email to a manufacturer of balls in the eu. Their response was a polite „no“ :) but who knows, maybe another company could do it. But i doubt it, since it would most likely require the company to work out a process for this. They would need to...
Actually CH produces a 12v version and does sell the coils… its called the „tailgate edition“.
Its made for 12v car batteries as far as i understand. I wrote them a mail.
In the reviews someone complains that its slow to heat up and recover heat… im wondering if this is due to
Them running it...
Thanks Pukka,
i ditched the induction idea, due to the problems with temperature indication. I will just use a coil and pid. But i want it to be safe with 230v. I will try to change the threads topic.
Back to safety: best idea i can come up with is using a 230/110v transformer before the coil...
Thanks Radwin,
i feel the same. The risk of electric execution is way too high for my taste. I was thinking of running the whole thing at 110v. Still hurts but maybe not certainly deadly if anything goes wrong. But 12v sounds even better. Can these coils achieve the same power as the 110/230v...
Ignoring my rant :) the pid i linked should work as a starting point right? Thermocouple K input and output to a SSR relay. Or is there any other feature it would need?
Thanks guy. I do lots of electronics. Isnt wiring a pid just soldering an connector and a SSR relay? I solder for a living 🤷♂️ I have looked at the ready available ones and they are death traps from an electric standpoint. Here in the eu this is highly illegal - for good reasons. Take a look...
Thanks guys!
ill try around. Guess i will buy one of the cheap injectors off alibaba for experimenting. Its made of titanium.
If it doesnt work, ill just get a pid and run it with that.
Talking about pids. Is anyone capable of telling me, if the linked pid would work for a regular enail...
Thanks,
here are two screenshots from the show. Looks like hotspots to me 🤷♂️ please correct me if im wrong, but these shots remind me a lot of my splinter. Sadly i dont know how to attach something properly so i only have a link:

Im interested in this vape. But im a bit concerned from the videos i saw. One on page #138, the other on the Troy YouTube show. The bowls dont look evenly extracted... in both videos some of the material is on the edge of combustion, while there is still bright green in there. Whats your...
I think im not into doing any mods and therefore looking at the omega. Does anyone know if the 14mm injector works with the oww sko shovelhead? The omega one only works with the 18mm injector if i understand correctly. Id much prefer a small bowl.
