You should definitely be using your ABV then; at that colour you are far from extracting all the goodness available. My ABV is generally dark to the point of black, and I'll combust on the rare occasion. It is very obvious when you combust, you can smell burning and you can taste the grossness...

I really thank my lucky stars I don't have a timer. Being able to leave it on 24/7 is a blessing.

I think it would taint the taste a little, but it would not in any way impact the potency of the rest of the reclaim.
