im getting really good clouds and effect on heat level 1 with a fully packed oven... not to mention the taste is SUPERB at that lowest level... the new algorithym that sends it into superheat mode for 5 seconds when your lips touches the mp superheats the oven enough to produce good vapors...
dare i give away too many of my secrets here but here goes my favorite way is with a completely full oven of fine shred, firmly packed but not overpacked, & last but not least the trick is to session it on each petal starting from 1 to 4 and its ok to take as long of a break as you need...
i was using the rolled up screen way but then i realized that because the pax2 oven is narrower and deeper that even a small amount of herbs will stay in place at the bottom of the oven by packing it in and didnt even need the rolled screen anyways (just my opinion)
you're welcome @adam_baumm high five!
also about the screen with/out the footprint, you'll notice it came slightly bent at an angle (i think the ones with the foot print do as well but not sure) - but anyways i just slightly bent mine just a little bit more in that same direction just so it has...
just 1 finger pinch of loose herbs filled to the oven brim but by the time that its packed down the oven is only half full and that works very great- and just session it all the way through on heat setting 3 (although you can start on 1 or 2 if you want) but i find there's no need to go to heat...
packing the top of the load using the oven lid is working pretty great and now i tested to find out i dont even need any spacer at all if i pack it down in place and finding the right heat setting which i think is important as well
i didnt have a spacer, and small amounts (.01) that wasn't enough to fill the oven i just left it unpacked i liked it at heat level 4 the best
but now wit a spacer i like it at heat level 2 or 3 for that amount and firmly packed and so far i like that way the best
having great success on the 2ndpetal and yes even big clouds on only just 1petal the lowest heat. but there is definately some tequnique to it because i had to buy a good sharp stone grinder and it does a fine grind and then also firmly pack it in nice and firm and i just wait about 5seconds...
@pfm67 for me the thicker clouds are from a completely full and firmly packed loadd (medium grind) on heat setting 4 (highest) - flared/raised mouthpiece for less resistance, slow and steady deep draw really does the job done (packing using the ends of the oven lid as the packer)
got the pax2 on friday. i really have found very great & consistently big and milky clouds and take huge thick draws from it each time. its very medicating because i just left combustion on friday
yes the choke point can be in the middle of the oven but only if the oven is fully packed. I believe this is what the engineers had in mind when they made the pax2 screen air holes 50% larger
great observation points!
just maybe, w/ pax1 the choke point WAS the screen (milkshake draw).. but now with the new and improved pax2 screen (50% wider flow) and oven lid in place... the new choke point is now exactly in the center of the oven (50% screen resistance/50% lid resistance)...
