I really enjoy the Lotus — and I'd enjoy it a lot more if I could find reliable torches. As much as I like the unit, however, I wonder if there might be a more durable material which could be used in the vapor cap. It would seem to me that there might be fireproof materials with insulating...
That might be the case but, seriously, I use a half dozen fully-charged batteries in rotation and I have no complaints about battery life. If you can figure out an easy way of monitoring them and taking them off the charger at 40%, go for it. However, I don't think it's really necessary.
Apologies if this has been brought up previously — is there any possibility that HL could convert/upgrade OG units to IO specs? Would it even be cost-effective? I love having three working Hoppers and an IO. Now all I can think about is having four working IO's!
I don't think so — it doesn't actually turn, it just applies a little twist pressure and seems to firm up the contact.
I noticed that when the white lights started flashing on my io and I removed the battery and put it in my Nitecore D2 the voltage was 3.69, much lower than the normal readings...
As the io seems to have fulfilled the original promise of HL's technology and design, and the business model seems to be improving as well, what do people plan to do with their old working GrassHoppers? Will warranty work continue to be done on the original units? Can old bodies be retrofitted...
What kind of glass mouthpiece do you use? I usually use the Lotus Vapor-Scope, a j-hook, or a Chinese knock-off mini bubbler without water, but I'd like to find something rugged that I could just slip into my pocket.
Can you explain what you mean? I haven't really had any problems with them. Yes, after they get old they need to be replaced. Same with the D cells in my flashlight. If you're talking about the supply chain, that's a different matter. Having components manufactured overseas at a lower cost...
My experience as well. Didn't hear a thing from them but 5 days later I look at my account and my io is registered. I'm really happy with my serial number, by the way. I hadn't requested anything special, didn't even know that was an option, but HS0000XX is easy to remember!
Yeah, sorry — I hadn't been following the thread closely enough and didn't catch that you were specifically interested in GH3's. But my point was basically that the GH2's work fine in the io. If the io's are being shipped out with a new GH2 there's no reason to wait for the arrival of the...
The GH2 batteries are fine. I have a half dozen in steady rotation using an external charger. There just aren't enough of them in stock right now because trans-Pacific trade supply lines have been hit by covid-19 and the economic policies of the current administration.
The io is really a fine...
Tenor sax has been my main horn for years but I've recently begun to seriously study the bass clarinet. Social distancing has pretty much killed the summer music season — I don't know if I'll even start up the band when things get back to "normal".
While I haven't received mine yet, nearly all the reviews by users here have been pretty positive. I'd keep "actively looking" for just a bit longer if I were you, however. A partial shipment of batteries has arrived but why not wait until Hopper Labs has really started shipping these new...
