Battery number is going to impact your battery life and device size/weight. 2 batteries will get you ~8-10 bowls in the Zv2, 3 will probably get you around 15.
I've always been in the Splinter-is-good-enough-I-don't-need-a-Z camp, but I just got a Zv2 on a whim a couple of weeks ago and I'm not sure I'll go back to the V1. The Z takes everything I love about the Splinter and dials it up to 11.
