Water is very messy? Well okay if you say so.
I haven't made anything more difficult. I havent done anything I'm saying if someone found a way to add removable temp control that would be awesome. Because someone asked if it had been done. I don't need to be sold on the simplicity of this...
I haven't looked any further into it because I like the way it is now. But like I said if it could be done without modifying it it would he awesome. There is no cool down required. Dip it in water if you're in a hurry as per Nattys advice. But again I'm not saying it should be done or needs to be
The coil idea has been discussed but hasn't been executed yet. It is a good idea and if it could be done without altering the slug it would be an absolute breakthrough I believe.
That's an awesome looking set up you got going on there! And you are catching on fast! Welcome to the family!
My advice on redoing a failed press. Heat it for like 45 seconds to start. The slug and the material are still hot so you don't need to do it the full minute or so.
I pre compress...
Just did this. 1:10 seconds of heating. This was by far the most action packed press I've done. The rosin came out in a damn hurry haha mild blowout towards the ends but I caught it in time. And boy did it smoke well and hit hard. I am instantly a fan of the freezer pack method. It does not need...
Oh I know moisture affects them. For sure haha I'm just pointing out that by introducing it to colder temps in general there will be some level of condensation no matter what. And I wasn't referring to condensation seeping through the paper. I thought we were talking about water condensing in...
Yes the paper won't be the coldest thing but as soon as it touches the cold surface it will be colder than the ambient air and condensation will occur. It doesn't have to be the coldest thing in the room to condense moisture.
All this I feel isn't very relevant though because moisture shouldn't...
Exactly. Now what if we chill with a cold pack/stone just to make collecting and transferring to a glass container easier and then using it after it's warmed up?
Well Steama is saying that it adds moisture. If what you're saying is true Lou then chilling the paper at all will cause condensation. Freezer or not. My question was whether or not the freezer method ADDS water. If condensation is your concern then any drop in temperature should be avoided...
How does it add moisture? Genuinely curious. It's only in there for a few minutes. Would the parchment being in a plastic bag help that?
Either way I would like a nice conductive surface like a cold stone or brass plate for convenience.
Holy shit why wasnt I getting updates on this thread haha i missed out on alot. But I have alot of good news.
So to address the holes in the vice issue. Yes you absolutely do need a perfectly flat surface to press against. No the screw holes won't interfere. I have the Master Kit and it comes...
My main issue now is handling and collecting the rosin. I got all the tools I need to smoke and vape it (with some drama from 420science.com). Now I need the stuff to handle/collect/store it all. Alot is wasted on the paper. I'm going to order a set of dab tools I found on Amazon. Lou you should...
Freezing the rosin on the parchment works very well for me. I fold the paper on itself and squeeze right before freezing. When I separate the paper it usually sticks to one side and leaves a nice lump of rosin. I got another good run.l last night. I'm way less awkward the more I use it. I've...
Lou all you need is the torch to get it unstuck like Natty said. I heat it up in the vice and use a large screwdriver against the spacer to lift it out. I am going to be looking into a heavy duty C-clamp for a portable option. Although my entire set up with the vice and everything will fit into...
Natty has a video on YouTube of him using kief.
But yeah I would recommend more practice before using something more valuable. If you are having blowouts you could be doing a couple things wrong. Overtightening in hopes that it'll finally ooze out. This could really mean not enough heat. Or it...
