Thanks Tom - I realise now why the Eterra instructions are as they are. I like to think that I've got a pretty good lung capacity and can take very long, slow draws on the PD and have never felt I'm going out of the vapor zone.

Growing your own is indeed a wonderful thing. And if your daily driver is a PD, you don't actually need to be growing large crops to keep yourself going. A couple of ounces goes a long way in a PD.

I just tried Acolyte's mouth-bong technique and it's great. If I had any concerns about the PD it was the stream of dry air hitting my mouth & throat. But the mouth-bong gives sweet moist vapor. :) You've got to pay attention to making sure that no water runs down the tube into the heater...

Less is more indeed...in an attempt to just play with the efficiency of the PD, I've been packing tiny bowls, literally a few flakes and getting vapor clouds from the tiniest amount. Amazing...

Thanks for the info re exotic timbers Max - good to know. I can't see myself adding silicone or Tygon tubing to my PD mouthpieces. I do find that I like to have a glass of water handy however when having a bowl.

Yes - they are both grown in plantations here. Tea Tree is largely grown for the oil which is distilled from the leaves and which has antimicrobial properties. I imagine they harvest the timber as well. I've only got to drive a few minutes and I can be surrounded by Tea Tree plantations...

The other thing to consider when sourcing exotic wood is where it has come from - please don't buy tropical rainforest timbers that have not been harvested sustainably. The extent of environmental devastation of tropical rainforests in third world countries is heart-wrenching...
