The problem is that THC and CBD decarboxylate, melt and boil across a *range* of temps, not one specific temp. What you're trying to achieve is possible - to a point. THC will be more fully decarboxylized and will melt/boil at lower temps than CBD, but you won't get all of it out before CBD...

Are you guys using the glass stand to keep the wand warm? I find that kicks the temps up a fair bit, so I've dialed the wand back down. It takes a bit of practice to find the right temperature for you - try tweaking the dial a notch or a half-notch at a time, leaving it in the stand to warm...

Try putting your herb on the optimizer itself, rather than in the filling chamber. A mate does this and gets close to smoking, the leftovers are powderized.

jjsmit - is it really cold where you are right now? The iolite will burn as often as is required to maintain 190 degree temps - if it's hot weather then it'll cycle less frequently, cold weather and it'll burn more frequently.

When you say no hissing, do you mean the valve isn't letting out butane when switched to 1, or do you mean it's not starting a heating cycle (intermittant hissing with the red glow in the exhaust)? If no butane is coming out (before you ignite it) sounds like a warranty claim...
