Not at all, if that works for you, great! Stick to it :) For my unit I get the feeling that every time I move the knob the chances for the glitch increase. I could turn back or forth, find the green zone and suddenly have it switch to red in the green zone or trigger the glitch while moving...

For my unit sure so, only overheated when the led was red (in temperature adjusting mode). Keeping it in line of sight works for me, oh and of course power cycle when you feel it's red too long after a temp change :)
