Yeah, the pattern on the screen can be face up or down. No difference in the hits you get. With the pattern side face down you will find that a lot more resin builds up on the underside of the screen. That texture really captures and builds up the resin.

This has happened to me a couple times. Take the fully charged PAX off the base and it flashes yellow instead of green. If I put it back on the charger it will show full charge right away. No, I can't. I see the same image when looking into my oven. There are notches on the edges of the screen that cause a sort of reflected optical illusion off the oven wall when the screen is in place.
