Yeah with a new nail I would just wipe it down with an iso qtip, and then season it as usual. After that torch cleaning should do the job.

Why does your nail need washing? Burn off anything with a torch I would use Iso if it ever needs cleaned, shouldn't be too often to do damage

As long as your washes are quick enough winterizing isn't required to have nice oil with QWET. But if you got the time and are able, i'd do it anyway.
