"It" referring to the screen process . Eds stem is 2 piece. You can buy the longer water pipe adapter (very pretty) which is used in place of the mouth piece stem. I got a free WP adapter from DV so I haven't purchased one from Ed. I am not sure about your referral to one piece.

I have not figured out pics yet. Eds stem sits deeper in tapered stem hole leaving a conical depression that the screen will wedge into. I use a small heat resistant brush to clean it each load. It works well.
