No, that's not true. There's enough clearance on any decent grinder to prevent contact when grinding, no matter how much anodizing is removed.

If the herb is sticky and/or slightly moist, you won't get much. If it's dry you'll get much more. I never use a screen grinder unless the kief is going to separate from the flowers anyway (dry).
