Definitely coming off the ridge there. Hopefully future units will move the plastic further back from the chamber to avoid making contact. I'm guessing this problem is common to all units? If you are having this problem, don't move or remove the capsule during, or for a while after use.

I am absolutely certain it is not resin. It holds it's shape once it cools and flakes off the capsule in solid peices. Those peices do not dissolve in iso. This leads me to believe it is in fact plastic.

Pretty certain. That was a new capsule after first use. Plus my device is very clean. I'm overly careful as my previous posts might give away.
