Have you tried it with the gong adapters and basket screens? The bowl size is considerably smaller and closer to the element, and I seem to be similarly affected with similar amounts of flowers. I'm sure you could be right though since this is just based on my experience, which is more limited...

If cheap is your aim then the D020 or the G187 are good options. I'd start with either one of those as a baseline, then you can get a feel of what it is you're after; if you're not happy with the D020/G187, you can be more specific about what you want.

If I'm too lazy to grind, I'd just put a small nugget in there. After a draw or two, it'll be dry and crumbly, and you can stab at it with the e-pic to break it down into a medium-fine grind.
