That’s entirely because of the notches in the 2019 tip. Actually, helical grooves such as on the 18 M make more sense from a cooling engineering perspective. I’m not entirely convinced the new serpentine pattern is an actual improvement beyond cosmetic.

Are there any here who prefer the 2018 M to the 2019? I’m especially interested in knowing about the stem because I kinda think the new facets and rocker look esthetically unattractive to my eye. Does the tip performance appreciably improve? If I really need better airflow I may get a Ti tip.
