I'm running it on android and it works fine. It doesn't have much functionality other than changing temp settings. To answer your second question; Yeah it's easier if you happen to have your phone on in front of you, but it's easy enough just doing it directly from the device.

I'm still not done with my testing but so far this certainly isn't reducing my consumption, the taste isn't as nice as a well made oil, and I'm having to constantly use it to maintain the effects I'm aiming for. Still hoping I'll get used to it if I stick with it a while longer.
