Yeah the Supreme is really more than meets the eye. Far more complicated than it looks, just look at their website under the heating element tab, it shows a picture of the inside of the block.

Sounds like a good place for the buttons from a user friendly/design perspective since after a while of use a user should get familiar enough to use the buttons without looking, buttons on the back would mean the user can just use one finger to adjust the temperature.

Even with the reducer, the hot air has got to go somewhere and since you are not inhaling it like using a heat gun with a bowl of herbs. Then the when the air hits the Lotus heat exchanger it is just going to blow everywhere and still not get the center hot/red enough to produce vapor.

With a heat gun it would seem you would overheat the surrounding areas, I don't think the flame much matters since you are not inhaling. Were you suggesting the heat gun because you don't want to overheat the metal?

I don't have a PD but I do own a Supreme, it would be interesting to hear about the efficiency comparison between the two. Though you can pack it deeper, the bowl in the Supreme is pretty small in diameter and it works by Conduction & Convection like the PD does. Basically what I am saying...
