the nail basically just rests over the male gong piece coming up. my glass nail was a lot more "loose" and sometimes oil would fall off if the dab was too big, but the TI nail i got solves all those problems, much more stable with a larger surface with a rim.

For me its mainly an aesthetic thing. I always just liked the look of the dome. I love saying TO THE DOME! as well :P I like how easily interchangeable they are with a TI nail though too, don't really need more than one for any vapor globes/rigs i get.

Not sure if you mean for the vape itself, but the battery charger does have a car adapter that comes with.
