That’s a bit scary to think that these were most likely not built to meet the appropriate safety regulations. How were they able to sell without meeting those though? Makes me feel like I definitely dodged a bullet not getting one as sad as that is. They were beautiful pieces of equipment but I...

Just to compare, MaxVapor just posted an image of a near finished board: https://m.imgur.com/a/fOr5ygT The difference is startling. Guess that’s what you get after multiple generations. Wish we could have seen HN reach that level of refinement.

Curious why you're saying that. From what I see, the MaxVapor 2018 is supporting Wifi/BT with much of the same features the HN was supposed to feature. I agree the aesthetics are nicer with the KubeOne, but that appears to be the main thing the KubeOne has going for it.

This is some really sad development recently. I was really hoping to buy a HN when the new owner produced the new units. I guess I’ll have to start looking at something else like the KubeOne. At least I finally got my dispute approved and refunded by PayPal! I had a buddy point out the MaxVapor...

My guess, and again, this is only a guess based off the short discussion I had with him. It sounds like there isn’t a lot of trust in the older platform SOC from the new owner. Thus why it sounds like he’s moving it to a new SOC that uses BT and is (I’m assuming) more reliable/less issues (I...

That was my feeling too on the SOC. I’m with you on the going full BT over WiFi. I could see the reasoning with going with something more akin to the KubeOne as it’s a proven SOC but it’d be losing a key differentiator. If that is what happened I’d be very glad I ended up getting my refund...

This is just a guess on my part. I’d assume that when the SkyNet goes back on sale it would go on sale at the regular price it used to be at instead of the increased “custom” price. That’s totally a guess on my part though. The owner did mention he would try and make it worthwhile to purchase...

This aligns with what he told me on the phone. I’m not sure but it sounded like they were possibly getting rid of WiFi for Bluetooth, not quite sure. I could be wrong and I certainly hope I am as I want a WiFi connected device for HomeKit. The way I understood it was that it was basically...

Call the number on the site. The new owner has been pretty good about answering.

    Hex-Nail (HN-01) - RIP

From my discussion with the new owner there wasn’t any reason to think that he is going to toss the old codebase. It sounded more like they were going to release a new hardware platform to address issues and add BT support. This to me sounded like they’d take the existing code and adapt it to...

Please go through the Hex-Nail site form or phone number on the site. The new owner was adamant that the two companies are separate entities and doesn’t want to have noise sent to the TR contacts.

I hate to be the bearer of bad news but somebody has to be the one. I’m going to preface this with this information not being official from the owner and based off memory. I am not a representative, etc, of Hex-Nail or anything. I just got some information that I feel many in here would like to...

That certainly doesn't give me the warm fuzzies or reassure me that I'll be receiving something for my $600. I sure hope that's not a sign of things to come. I still hold out hope that I'll be receiving my HN-01 at some point this year.

First of all, congrats on closing round three ladies! Hopefully that also means DabOS 2.0 is coming soon. Second, on the shipping units, is that in reference to 2nd or 3rd round units? I’m a bit lost in what is currently going out. Also, how can we tell where we are in the queue? Just curious...

As I’ve been keeping up with this thread I have noticed that DabOS/2 has been delayed quite a bit, due to as I understand it only being one developer. I’m curious; and apologize I if this has been brought up before, but I wonder if the idea of making it open source has ever been brought up. I...

That’s great to see you’re officially taking orders for the HN-01 again. I e-mailed you guys a few weeks back about converting my order to an HN-01 and haven’t heard anything back. Just sent a follow up now to see if I could get it switched. Would really appreciate it if I could have that done...

Good to know that the quartz isn’t worth getting and won’t even fit! I’m still learning and might be confusing SiC with what I’d read about wanting to remove metal from the vapor flow path. Now that I read your list I might be confusing it with titanium. I’ll keep this order in mind from now...

Thanks for all the info. I can definitely see the advantage going the D-Nail route. I noticed that NV explicitly states the WA is for the SiC dish. Has anybody ever tried to use the quartz halo with it? I thought I’d read you get better flavor from quartz vs SiC? Also, any use getting the...

I’d seen the D-Nail WA piece when I was first getting my FP setup but had no idea what it was. I wish I’d known then! So basically instead of a Liger I could get the D-Nail WA and the quartz or SiC Halo from D-Nail and I’d have something that performs the same as the Liger with a good flavor...

I'm really looking forward to the Red Queen. I actually e-mailed @HexNailAva a few days ago about possibly changing to a SkyNet cause that touch screen look is SO sexy but I'd be happy with a RQ too I'm sure. I really want that HomeKit functionality... The biggest complaint with the current...
