It was custom vortex marble with ground glass.

So I broke my buddy's ground glass heater and I don't want to pay 75 dollars for a new one like it. Does ssv repair hc's for a reasonable price?

Maybe put a ring of silicone on the glass to handle it and silicone like the new TT stems to make it sturdier? I think that would provide a great hit and stability.
