My D020 came yesterday and the packaging smelled like mildew and car exhaust. It isnt quite indicative of China's smog though, at least in Guangzhou it had a slight and pleasant sweetness.
What would be the road going forward for Magic Flight and glass? Are they usually open about product development? If not lets just speculate, dream mlfb glass.
So I emailed Trevor at Grasshopper about the seeming water adapter discrepancy and he said "Yes, there will be an included adapter for all indiegogo purchasers. This is so we can accommodate everyone more easily."
I've asked if the deal still applies to purchasing from the backer's site and it...
Well, I've looked around on massdrop and Magic Flight isnt doing wholesale distribution at the moment and with no date in sight, I didnt want to wait for months only to give in then.
If it really is as great as they say it is, with "true" convection and a 4 hour battery life, then the wait will be worth it. Plus, sure we all have other vapes to occupy our time till then. I'm surviving with my trusty Pax.
Thanks for the comprehensive explanation. Is it worth trying to reclaim the tubing?
I've caved and ordered the Orbiter. With CA taxes, it amounted to almost $100.
Lokbok, you could use a female hose adapter on an number of precoolers and ash catchers for a similar size and utility, but nothing I've found is as well designed and significantly cheaper than the Orbiter. I'm just waiting till 3rd party retailers can sell it without the shipping charge...
Read and researched the last 50 pages of the bubbler thread. I'm thinking maybe an ashcatcher and mouthpiece/hose attachment would probably be the closest to the Orbiter but nowhere near as stylish. Anyone know if they will be selling it in head shops or other retailers?
It's a bummer that glass doesn't come with a return period. Hopefully the price can come down maybe with massdrop or classifieds so it wouldn't be such an uncertain investment for a poor college student.
I agree, proportionally it is very well defined and alongside the mlfb it would be really neat, but the size is a bit small when say pairing with an Arizer Solo and even a Pax. Wish there were generic alternatives of the same design.
So about the Orbiter bubbler, will the 2014 buyers be covered for accidental damage to the glass? Just want to be clear about what the warranty means in the case of "covered glass".
Edit: Anyone wish it had been a bit bigger? 4.25 by 2.5 inches doesn't quite seem as impressive as a full sized...
Thanks everyone for the helpful advice. I've emailed Ed about availability and I'll give him a call later today. I'm convinced about the wood stems, but the seals for the Solo I am not sure about. I'll have to receive and inspect my Solo before deciding on the thickness of the seal, right?
Thanks for the reply Pinnacle, Ed's thread is very informative and the pictures are beautiful. Hopefully they can save money, being more shatterproof than glass stems.
So I'm considering buying a Solo and the one issue holding me back are the older reports that there's a loose stem issue. Is that still a problem with the newest serial numbers or was it a problem afflicting only a few people? Also, what are people's thoughts on Ed's wooden Solo stems? I...
