try to get wider diameter whip/tubing that fits over the enano gong or dry stem and attach it to a 14/18mm fitting to go into your glass piece. I'm not well versed on the different desktop unit whips but I'm sure someone here can point you in the right direction.

I think you are overreacting a little bit. Wet a cottonball and put it in your stem. That should help.
