This might be a dumb suggestion, but what if you opened up a cotton ball, took some cotton out of the center and put some herb in, and "closed" the ball back up to its original form and put it in the unit. Would this help insulate the herb so it doesn't just vape away by touching the hot bowl...

Hopefully its get a good unit. My stealth model has given me no troubles with off-gassing, silicon flavor, automatic temp lowering, nothing. I feel pretty lucky. Good luck, let us know how it works out!

Mine never did that, even on the first round of vaping. I'm not sure what is going on there. There was a slight silicon smell before I even turned it on, but after the first bowl, its completely disappeared.

man this thing going is awesome. I'm getting killer vapor out if mine and the herb looks to be vaping very evenly with no darker spots anywhere. heats up faster than I thought too. I got the little bit of excess glue off just with my fingernail so it's all good now. Loving the Ascent!
