Tried it with the Herc SR74 and a Kiss cart., same result. Don't have a DVOM handy. I took the rod (7.4 white) out and cleaned the contacts.. Cleaned the lower spring button and housing and all the threads and the upper housing. Reassembled as per G's online video...No oil leaked into the lower...

I to have had a problem with the positive spring button connection...Tried soaking it in iso....tried boiling....tried rotating the button to free up the spring..Nothing has worked......I ordered a new one and the SR74 is back in the lineup..
