Use the pliers to loosen the nut then drop the upper housing with the rod in boiling water and then just push the rod up into the housing....If you don't remove the nut you will never get the rod out...DO NOT grab the rod with pliers unless you want to buy a new rod..Good luck.

Hello, I just noticed there is a replacement bottom insulator base that shows it is compatible with a 510 Herc...Does this base have a 601 or a 510 bottom thread...I use my (601)Herc on a Sigelei 150tc with the adapter and it just looks "funny".. Thank you.
