Over time it will affect performance for sure. I just used a precision screwdriver and pried up a corner to get it out. Soaked it in ISO and got it looking decent again. Used ISO on q tips to clean bowl and then put screen back. Like new again! Edit: used my finger to push screen back in.

After a full charge, switching between C and F works again. Don't imagine it takes much power to switch the display so I am not sure it is related to the low charge or not. I'll test again the next time I let it get under 2 bars.

If you aren't filling the bowl, it keeps the plant materials from flying around within the bowl when you pull hard. Most vapes work best when the material isn't overly loose. On a full load, it was to keep the materials out of the cooling unit since the screen in the CU is so coarse.

For a bit I was laying a screen on top of full loads too but stopped doing that when I switched to finer screens in the cooling unit. Less hassle when doing full loads and the plant materials never gets in to the CU with the finer mesh.
