    How many TRUE combustion-fuckers?

I'm old and I smoked (never with tobacco!) for more than 35 years until I got a little ceramic element digital vaporizer in May 2005. It's a health judgement call I make now and if I had known about vapour, I would never have smoked - would far prefer to vaporise, but will eat or maybe and very...

    Combustion better for you?

AFAIK Anthrax is a spore forming bacterium - the taxonomic name is bacillus anthracis. It is certainly not a mould and is very unlikley to grow in dried vegetable material. Maybe a better choice than not vaping - eg if you didn't have time to vaporize and you're in line to see the Hobbit movie...

    Different strains different vaporization time?

Nooooo....this is not how the physics of vapourization works! It's a common misconception so please excuse the following rave: Yes, water starts to boil at 212f at sea level but any surface of ice or water will have individual molecules vaporizing randomly - yes, even ice - that's why your ice...

    Different strains different vaporization time?

Amen to that. Most of those thousands are outside our control, but we can and do control some things like temperature and moisture. We optimise our technique for more consistently memorable results. Just like eg making espresso or cooking omelettes. The ritual. The physics. etc. So vaporising...

    Different strains different vaporization time?

I think that's entirely a question of taste so not something I'm laying down the law on - not trying to tell anyone which is 'better' for them - but the laws of physics are always operating so if you rely on a battery, dry herb will probably mean your battery will give you more hits than moist...

    Different strains different vaporization time?

Seems to me we all have a lot to learn about the physics and chemistry of vaporizing. Ideally we do controlled experiments to try to refute testable hypotheses like the one I suggested for Hooligan above. You can tell I think Karl Popper (http://plato.stanford.edu/entries/popper) got it right...

    Different strains different vaporization time?

Hooligan, absolutely agree that the quality is crucial but I invite you to try a 'controlled' experiment and let us know what you observe: split a gram of good herb into two parts - dry one lot slowly at low temperature so as not to lose any terpenes until it's really dry and moisten up one half...

    Different strains different vaporization time?

Interesting thread and AFAIK, not widely reported - my 2c - full disclosure, I'm a scientist so I like to think about the physics and chemistry of the process of getting THC out of the plant and in to my head: ABV: In terms of colour/smell, once the volatiles have departed, any carbohydrates...

I don't recommend this unless you know what you're doing but if anyone out there needs to know: A fully charged 7.9v power pack lit up a 12v halogen lamp bulb for about 20-25 minutes before shutting itself off. The battery pack got only slightly warm during the entire operation - the bulb and...

No - was planning on making sure I needed one first. Since the lipo is designed to push out a couple of amps, I can't see how a slower drain will hurt it any more than using it would? It will go back to the supplier if a careful slow discharge doesn't fix it, but that means not having it for...

ok - thanks - looks like I'm going to need to drain it down somehow - might go investigate something safe like a 12v automobile globe or an old fashioned monster wire wound resistor perhaps - 8 ohms should give me about 1A which is 8W or so if my addled old brain can remember those formulae...

My new solo arrived today. I charged it until the flashing green light went steady but it won't heat properly. Turned it on, hit ^ a few times, red 'heating' flashes 3-4 times, lower 3 or 4 leds flash, 'beep' and poof, turns itself off. Recharge, rinse, repeat. I wonder if I have a bad battery...

    The Magic-Flight Box

AFAIK the current PA purchase form requires a valid MFLB serial - so it was a two shipping step process for me - not entirely a bad thing since I got a chance to learn how to use batteries for portability and for power outages.

+1 Just got mine. Batteries willl serve when there are no power points, but the adapter really makes the little box fly. Think: permanently charged battery; on steriods when you want. Control the heat power - no more charring... Another strong buy recommendation and thanks to the MFLB crew.

I was thinking about immersing my MFLB in isopropyl alcohol to soak out the resin before I travel overseas. My guess is that alcohol will probably not be so bad for the metal/electrical bits, the perspex cover or the (?silicone) O ring holding the screen in place? Wooden barrels have been...

Good thought. Yes, you're right - the straw suffers pretty badly so it's far from ideal for inhaling. Pinched silicone tubing would probably also work - could be good for newcomers - a hit controlled by the "designated vaper" to demonstrate the idea... I can't feel much temperature signal with...

    The Magic-Flight Box

Glad someone read it - please try it - I don't think I've completely lost my mind. Yes, sipping/microhits are definitely useful techniques, but what I'm after is a more reliable way of minimizing combustion. Most decent vapes have some kind of thermostat built in that does it automagically for...

    The Magic-Flight Box

Discussion closed by a moderator (just as I was about to save my post!) Seems like a valid argument - should not have an MFLB specific technique thread placed under a general topic. OTOH wading through 410+ pages of posts makes it hard to find interesting stuff - although the vaporpedia...
