Definitely try using a nice brand butane. I have experienced the same action on some torches with age. The sharp plane tip just does not seem as pointy as when they are new. I am using a new torch now, LOVE IT! It's capacity is about 5x that of the stock torch and perfect match for extended...

I think a lot of folks get a little caught up on setting a number, but my sweet spot changes with each strain. I tone it down a bit for water use, as I take much bigger draws and would otherwise scorch. Play Experiment Have Fun
