Take a small diamond file, deepen the tip’s notches to allow a tad more air inflow.....

The expanding cycle of the heated tip, and cooling, is most certainly going to compromise the integrity of the stem—unless it is capped (to minimize that cracking certainty). PP’s stems “wood” be precious + , with caps.....:tup:
