Fluxer Heaters, induction heaters for Dynavap

Yeah, it's been a crazy and busy couple of weeks. Not a lot of heaters to show for it, but I did pump out a lot of circuit interations. :haw: No, actually - not until I clicked just now. Thanks for posting that! I've obviously missed what I assume has been a heated discussion about the design...

Fluxer Heaters, induction heaters for Dynavap

Hi, Sorry, but I haven't gotten those emails out yet. I've been busy with some other tasks I needed to get done ASAP, and as a result I haven't finished the data prep for the October waiting list emails. I hope to finish the data prep soon and send out the emails this weekend. I'll post here...

Fluxer Heaters, induction heaters for Dynavap

Probably not, but one odd thing I encountered recently while doing some testing with a different heater: N52 magnets are powerful, and I found that it's possible to accidentally disable the power relay by placing a magnet too close to it. The power relay is the large white rectangular block on...

Fluxer Heaters, induction heaters for Dynavap

Hi @ghost7ateoh , There are several PSUs on Amazon.ca that will work - the requirements are 12VDC, 10A current, center positive tip. The Flix has a 2.5mm x 5.5mm DC port and originally came with an adapter to also allow use of that size and also 2.1mm x 5.5mm power sources. This PSU has the...

Fluxer Heaters, induction heaters for Dynavap

Hi all, I have been very busy for the past week or so with a few Fluxer-related projects and wanted to share a few updates. Flix cases: The 2nd shipment of cases has arrived! This shipment adds red as a new case color choice, and also brings back the raw aluminum color that was used for the...

Fluxer Heaters, induction heaters for Dynavap

Thanks for posting those pics, @Jethro! Call me biased, but I think they look great! :p Use them in good health! I may be the only one interested in this next thing, so go ahead and call it a vanity project, but I got the first version of the DeWalt 12V battery breakout boards back from my PCB...

Fluxer Heaters, induction heaters for Dynavap

Thanks for your order, @Jethro ! Regarding the natural aluminum/"raw" cases: I have more coming with the second order of cases, which should be here in ~3 weeks or so. If you would rather switch your order to one of those, @Jethro, send me a DM. I switched a couple of colors for the next...

Fluxer Heaters, induction heaters for Dynavap

Huh. That's an interesting idea and one I haven't see this in this context. Out of curiosity, do you know which cell is capable of 108W continuous output? FWIW, my first draft of the Flux Deluxe was as a 2 cell circuit. One of things I considered when evaluating 2 cells vs. 3 cells was the...

Fluxer Heaters, induction heaters for Dynavap

The Flux Deluxe uses 18650 batteries, not AA. They look similar but are actually pretty different under the skin. There are designs that will run on less voltage/fewer cells than mine. Mine is tuned for 12V, but as the Flix shows it will also run on less voltage.

Fluxer Heaters, induction heaters for Dynavap

You are correct as usual, @TommyDee , a 3D printed version could be really great. There are 3D printed docks for this battery (eBay example) - but they're about $15, which is kinda pricey. I think the PCB version I came up with should also work pretty well. I'll know more when the boards get here :D

Fluxer Heaters, induction heaters for Dynavap

Flix battery packs - one idea Several people have asked me about using the Flix with a battery pack, and I want to share a solution I am developing to make this easy to do. There are a lot of ways to make a 12V battery pack, and most will work well for powering the Flix as long as they are 10A...

Fluxer Heaters, induction heaters for Dynavap

Thanks for the write up, @Moses Baca ! Yes, you can do that. Use an extension with the thickest gauge wire you can find, as thinner wire will add resistance and generate heat. 5' or so is probably the limit - you will need to see how well it performs.

Fluxer Heaters, induction heaters for Dynavap

I can build one with no LEDs or anything in between, just tell me what you want in an email (fluxerheaters@gmail.com) when you place your order. Yes, the plastic insert can be omitted, or it can be retained and you can omit the LED inside it. I can also omit the LEDs under the coil if you'd like.

Fluxer Heaters, induction heaters for Dynavap

Hi all, OK, finally catching my breath a bit after a very hectic 4-5 weeks of Fluxer stuff. June and July have certainly kept me busy! I've built and shipped ~95 Flix to date, and as I discussed here I also saw some of those heaters a second time due to a component selection error that...

Fluxer Heaters, induction heaters for Dynavap

A quick update: I have lots of heaters to pack and ship - thank you! The Fluxer store is currently sold out of Flix. Thank you! I have more ready to go and will be adding more inventory to the store as soon as I have shipped the heaters mentioned above. Just wanted to let folks know I am...

Fluxer Heaters, induction heaters for Dynavap

Not sure of the specs for the Cauldron, but the Flix needs a 12VDC / 10A power supply with a center positive tip. The DC power port on the Flix has a 2.5mm x 5.5mm jack, which is one standard size, comes with an adapter for the 2.1mm x 5.5mm tip size, which is the other standard size. This...

Fluxer Heaters, induction heaters for Dynavap

Hi all, A few updates Flix: I just added 30 Flix to the Fluxer store. Thank you for your patience while I gave the new components a chance to prove themselves in the field. So far, so good on that score, so I’m ready to swing the Flix back into production. Flux Deluxe: I’ve finished all...

Fluxer Heaters, induction heaters for Dynavap

Great question, @The Chemist ! The short answer is that over-voltage will harm the Flix, while under-voltage won't. The somewhat longer answer is that the relay in the Flix has a miminum threshold voltage to operate. It varies a bit due to tolerances, but ~7.5 volts (+/- 0.3V) is the minimum...
