i wouldn't do that! first of all, that piece gets very hot and the air that becomes your vapor comes in through there. and i like to pop the herb chamber out of that plastic cover for easy cleaning. Does it still free spin if you squeeze the sides?

i finally got to a chance to try a vape of this style, and i think i may need to get one now.

i now use a screen outside of the filter to give strength. i had the filter split and spray plant matter into the oil. it also splashed some oil onto the ground.

I love my IOlite. They sent me replacement mouthpieces. Its just sad that units packaged with the old/bad mouthpieces are still out there. at my friend's retail store, he opened the ones he had in stock and swapped out the bad mouthpieces.

that is the only kind i use. i get those cans for $6.00 at my local pipe shop. The other place i bought them they were $6.99 each. i got a case from at $4.00 each.
