I sincerely hope we're talking length here, not girth....... OF

First I'd be sure it was well cured (dry) going in. Try making it even dryer. Grind some (medium/fine) and then putting it in a warm place for a while. You want to try very dry (evaporating off a bunch of water, which has to happen before vapor, confuses stuff and takes heat and time best...

That would be very fortunate if they are. They haven't been made in time now, I suspect that's a ghost on the web you're chasing.......but keep after them, if you run them down it could be reward time? Good luck. OF

Yes, I have a 'new style', it's on loan right now. Makes more sense for casual users since they can treat it like a cell phone with the only downside being reduced battery life. I like the PA mode and have no problems with restrictions in draw so I stick to having two originals kicking around...

Perhaps we should pity such people, really. At best, they're just guessing. Likely with a lot of 'my dog can beat your dog' mixed in. They're ignorant of the joys of Solo usage, but more important they don't know how ignorant they are? Too bad they're missing out on Solo, but you probably...

Beats me, that's way to judgmental for me........ Different? For sure. Amusing? Often. Worth paying attention to/keeping an eye on? I'll buy that one, too. OF

Great news for the forces of Goodness and Right for sure. Those of the Faithful who have not tried these should jump on it...... Inserted one way it cuts the volume of the standard stem about in half. And it moves a larger percentage of that closer to the glass walls. IMO they work better...

Hey, what the Man said! Perhaps 'everyone's favorite silicate' would be beach sand? Or desert sand...... The stuff lasts a very long time precisely because it doesn't react with other stuff. Start with a mountain, grind it up, wash the daylights out of it, grind it some more and eventually...

I agree, and in fact will take it a step or two more, I'm pretty sure it's a very bad idea from a heater preservation POV. We're using an average change across a wide assortment of conditions, for sure such a 'flash heating' will effect some parts more than others. More importantly, I think...

Interesting. Your thinking is a bit off, though. We want percentage of change not absolute change in Ohms. With your numbers I get a 65% for the V2 and 70% for the V3? Given the subjective nature of the comparison I'd say a 5% match is pretty darn good, wouldn't you? The same material seems...

Yes, it possibly could have come from there, which would be fatal......which is why I asked you to inspect the battery pack carefully for signs of leaks (most likely at the ends). The fact it will 'use while charging' is positive, but still doesn't guarantee it's only a battery failure. Yes...

Bummer. I agree with LH, at this point your best shot is probably leaving it charging (or trying to) in the hopes of unlocking the battery pack. This can be a fatal event, hopefully not. The problem is such packs depend on careful and exact balance between the two cells selected to make each...

Not just Cuboid. Collectively I bet we've tried a dozen models? No joy, that kind of news generally gets shared right away and has a way of attracting attention. Hang around, if someone sorts it out, you'll probably hear about it here first. Again, there are lots of ways to set it up 'wrong'...

IMO that's a bad assumption to make. Since TCR is related to material alone, unless that material changed (unlikely, he said he was 'working with the same people'?) that won't change. It might take a minor tweak if the thermal model is very different, but I doubt that too. Remember the mod...

Thanks. Definitely caught me by surprise as well. I even repeated it the next day with a fresh rig up However, in Science you're supposed to follow your observations not opinions or assumptions. So after the 'WTF, over" moment I knew I was on the track. Then, once it finally sunk in that...

Other materials should work, even an air gap, but I'd favor keeping the mica. Silver might be a poor choice, it oxidizes easily and would I think turn ugly quickly. Aluminum isn't likely to hold up well for the same reason? SS, Inconel, Nickel and maybe Ni-Chrome? Maybe we make the body out...

Two thoughts, either of which is likely to get me into some trouble.....in fact, perhaps both come to mind. First, there's a certain irony in Gourmet ending up with the cracked one? Clear case of type casting IMO. Secondly, while I too like the mica (really neat material, IMO, 'organic' as...

Fer sure. Mine works with maybe half the WTs I have? Good luck, if you have only one to fit it's either the end of the quest, or the start of a new one. Good luck with the draw. OF
