@ Deja Vu, The good adapter has a ledge in the middle... see below... (not a solid ring of glass). The other adapter I've seen in the middle is just straight without ledge for the screen. Works fine if you'll only be using a wand with "screens enclosing your product on both ends"...

On my unit, when selecting the duration of time for the auto-shutoff, there is a Zero value. When i select this, the green LED goes out and the unit never shuts off.

I have a Palm 2.0 as well and found the stock batteries to be a bit weak and short lived. There is a specific thread for the Palm 2.0 and within there is advice on better batteries.
