PHVES are some nice stems. I really like my vortex from them and i also have there 18mm adapter. , I also recommend checking out the EdsTnT wood stems , perfect for more airflow , huge clouds and they wont break like glass. If you love your air they are the perfect fit for it.

You don't have to warm up the bud but warming the glass is good. Warming your bud will cause you to loose some thc. I always pre heat my glass though for about 5-10min's , remove carefully , add my bud and start drawing .

I don't have my hopper yet but you know I got the pax 2 and I find no heat issues at all using with the flat mouthpiece even at its highest temp and with a long session. Maybe contact pax if your having that problem by I have yet to experience it at all.
