I like it simply because it takes the heating out of the cold and makes the area around the cap a mini-environment.

Short term burn-off is of much less concern than persistent VOCs to me. I've easily vaped a quart of motor oil in my days and more than a little smoked tire rubber.

I clean my grinder in Everclear and evaporate out the kief. The VC gets plain 'ol rubbing alcohol and a swab. Oregon's Everclear is 95% alcohol, 190 proof.

I was thinking a guy with gloves handling the aluminum tubes and the heater at the same time assembling devices. Comments like this has me asking about the heater's cleanliness status... IIRC there was a comment on the quartz glass not being clean, and the heater being wrapped in a quartz...
