I tried that with some 3mm glass beads, which worked but I had to crank up the heat to much for my liking to get any vapour past them. So now I'm using a 510 drip tip with an extra o-ring to keep the 6mm beads in the short stem on my standard imp, which work much better.

The M tips take longer to heat than the Ti tips for me with Pipes' IHs With an M tip I go about 5 seconds past the click on the 1st heat and 3 seconds after on subsequent reheats. With a Ti tip I go 3 seconds past on the 1st dip and a second after or at the click when reheating.

You can make the bowl smaller by pushing the screen in the stem towards the tip with a cocktail stick or something from the mouthpiece end. If that's still too big you can pop the screen out of the stem and flip it round to set the bowl as small as you like.
