The dishwashing detergent does the same thing but i removes the smell in the process. It does a great job at "scraping" the sides.

You absolutely can stack something else on top of it. I put my Vertigo Hydrotree on there with an 18 to 18 male adapter. Ive emailed the guy and asked if he can make me just the base with a 90 degree stem and male joint. Make a heck of a starting point for all kinds of Cloud contraptions.
