Well for waxy stuff, I use degummed hemp fiber or just herb as a wick, wax on top, heat like normal.

As @steama said, a lot of people now seem to think calling is out of the ordinary, a bother to some. People have really lost touch with their fellow neighbor it seems. A phone call will get a new ceramic rod with perfect communication, almost guaranteed.
