No spacers required, at least for 18350s (about 35mm in length), but even smaller cells like the 14250s that the Omi HVD uses do need spacers (but they come with the HVD kit :) ). The sliding bars seem to go down to about 34mm on mine. -NDA

I'd recommend sticking with the '188, especially if you want or need to charge 3v cells (e.g. LiFePO4 RCR123a). Also there's no slow charge setting - it is only a "fast charger" - Your cells may not last as long and smaller capacity batteries (e.g. the 14250s for the Omi HVD) may not be happy...
