The finish on the FAKE PAX looks like lines or kind of like a wood grain. The finish on the REAL PAX is a uniform texture and is mostly smooth and has a somewhat matte look to it.

Yes, Well really, you could just unscrew the part that has the screen and put it aside, and just screw the bottom piece straight onto the grinder top... And voila, 2 piece grinder when you want it.
