The Tempest is a slim TA with temperature indicators, and the Stunner is a copy of the TA, so they are all very similar. A Dynavap is quite different to these, and even with an FMJ or armoured cap it isn't comparable with an Anvil. And the Anvil has a thermal battery that doesn't directly heat...
It was RedZep who suggested voodoo and no limits and, having already questioned the possibility of combustion and the accuracy of temperature indicators when heating low and too hard, I was simply responding in light of subsequent testing.
It's physics not voodoo and every device has limits, with some adjustment to heating or interpretation of temperature required at the edges. But it seems that the Tempest can cope with a wide range of heating and if Brenyo gets the calibration right it will be perfect!
EPDM, FKM, VMQ and NBR are all used in food safe and medical applications. NBR is not resistant to isopropanol, and the relative safety of the others depends on temperature. FKM and VMQ are resistant to similarly high temperatures (depending on formulation), but VMQ is less resistant to...
If the Tempest is so forgiving that heating intensity and position make little difference to the accuracy of its visual indicator, that's a wonderful improvement over other devices.
I'm enjoying the reviews and can't wait to try the Tempest. The visual indicator is a great idea, and the ability to re-heat on the fly without worrying about clickers is especially interesting.
Other devices have a double click, so two temperatures are actually measured, with the time between...
Revolves and Reloads are available from Wick & Wire stores in Melbourne, so now I could pick one up in a few minutes, but I'm fully stocked. When the Tempest gets going I suppose they will have that too.
