If you run the Herborizer through water, I think it's quite smooth. You can also run it at lower temps which will make it more comfortable.

You could roll with a Lamart Tetra P80 with a capsule stem. Will make it a bit more friendly to load/unload on the go, and the capsule will add more of a conduction/hybrid element to the full convection Tetra heater. Lamart is also based in Europe which will make it easier to get on your end.

I just keep my HLT in a ceramic bowl from my cupboard. Works great for the time being, until I can get a proper log/heat shield for it.

I've seen a few people on reddit post about getting some Sky glass fairly recently. My guess would just be that they're a bit behind on orders & bad at communicating. They've been around the block for a long time so I can't imagine they'd be trying to grift anyone at this point.

I don't have a strong preference there. If the acrylic makes for a more durable product and is easier to make, I say go for it. And as others have said - I'm definitely interested in one of these.
