'The Misty Log' - DIY wooden Log Vaporizer

Hi @darkstar72 They're all good. The 5w resistor units run at a good temp for herbal directly from the PSU and have great reliability. The cartridge units need a VVPS or a dimmer to prevent combusting the bud, so that's an extra complication but a minor one. On the plus side they've got...

Souds great @Tinyvapelover  The 'buffer idea is particularly interesting. Looking forward to the pictures. https://fuckcombustion.com/threads/image-attachments.50036/

'The Misty Log' - DIY wooden Log Vaporizer

Hi @oddjobold 10w provides plenty of heat. And I'd advise using a VVPS or dimmer even with a 10w bulb. As Tinyvapelover says these's a load of info in the back pages of this thread. Yes, it's a lot to plough through but worth it. Here's a page that might help. Best of luck with the project...

Hi cilu and welcome to the thread. Fine piece of log history you have there, my man  Before you go any further it might be worth your time to bypass the jack connector and apply the power directly to the wires leading to the heater. The reason being that it might be the jack connector...

    Burning throat sensation after vaporization

I got that when I started vaping. Went away after two weeks - that was six years ago. Intermittent usage may take longer to build up a tolerance. Good advice above. I, too, would suggest water conditioning. Water should be warm or, ideally, hot. Good luck and let us know how it goes. :peace:

Yes, coiling the wire around the resistor provides better heat distribution and also keeps the resistor central within the heater cover. Blokenoname uses this method and so does Alan (HI). It's a bit more problematic with a cartridge. IIRC Ed (WS) talked at one stage of attaching fins to the...

'The Misty Log' - DIY wooden Log Vaporizer

Just thought I'd drop in my usual heater construction. Handy for reference if your DIY build uses a resistor - and also informative if you're using a cartridge or a bulb. The wire coiled around the resistor spins the heated air as it's drawn up into the dd stem or wpa avoiding hot spots...

Quite possibly. Try them both? A comparison would be interesting. Good luck with your project.

A bit deeper is probably OK. Too deep and you'll have to stir to get even ABV. We all have our preferred method. Mine is: a one-hitter fill, hit, dump the ABV, repeat as required. @blokenoname has done loads of work on stems/tips of various sizes (it's all in the back pages of this thread...

Looks fine except for the 10w cartridge (are you thinking of 10w halogen bulbs?). @blokenoname will be along to advise you on that. I've only used cartridges in a couple of my units and they were 40w - but bloke's the guy to talk to.

I have some of bloke's HCs made by that method and they work fine. However, I make mine differently and I'll include a description here so you can choose what works best for you and the tools you have. Basically, cut the tube 5-7mm longer than required to fit the heater well. Saw a cross...

'The Misty Log' - DIY wooden Log Vaporizer

Hi @a_roberto89 Yes, a cartridge heater would fit that tube but it depends on the tools you have available. 1mm is quite a thick wall for working with hand tools. You also have to consider what you have available for stem/WPA tips. I use 10mm OD x 9mm ID for the heater cover and 8mm OD x 7mm...

'The Misty Log' - DIY wooden Log Vaporizer

Hi @a_roberto89 I absolutely recommend DIY log building. The tools don't have to be expensive and the materials can be fairly cheap. I've made 3 logs from a rolling pin that cost £3 in a charity shop. The base was covered in leather cut from a wallet from another charity shop. Here's one of...

Well that's enough stems to be going on with - so back to the logs . This one's European walnut.
