I shaped a lid onto mine with milliput and pushed it into the slot. Worked a treat. Plus safer.

It's also a matter of whether the sealing o ring lands on one of those dimples. If it does it won't seal properly.

Carved some grips into the TM2. Still need to finish and repolish but you get the idea. There's no wood in the airpath. Not sure where you're getting that flavour from but it doesn't seem right.

@Abysmal Vapor You get away with a bit of curve. I've repeated the little spider image on the curves no problem but obviously if you want one that keeps crisp detail all the way round curves you need to spend a lot more.

Just grab a cheap laser engraver. There's no need to spend a lot if you are only engraving small pieces especially for wood. This is from a £60 AliExpress engraver. Flower of Life type patterns are easy. It's even pretty good at detail, I've printed photos onto wood with amazing results.
