    Herb Grinders

I am now the proud owner of the two finest grinders on the planet. One from the great white north and one from down under. 10 days from order to sitting on my desk for the Old Mate.

Two gone, that's not good. Same city perhaps?

Most are calling it between med and fine BCG.

I'll definitely time the stock bearing and then the new one dry and then with oil.

I've been looking at these for something else. Figured this is a good way to try one. https://www.bocabearings.com/products/smr608c-2os-7-af2-16330

What exposed oil. Sealed/shielded bearings aren't perfectly sealed. You can still oil them. And the bearing I ordered is $35. :brow:

That's not what the bearing expert tells me.

Does it spin longer? I'm sure I'm gonna be perfectly happy with mine that landed in the US yesterday.

I bet that strong magnet in the post is acting on the steel balls in the bearing and slowing down the spin . I ordered an ABEC 7 ceramic hybrid without lube to see how good it can spin. I'll use a drop of vegetable oil to make sure the races don't rust.

Sounds like something's not perfectly round. Maybe put a mark where they line up good. Or maybe some emery cloth or something to polish up the mating surfaces?

Same here. Ordered on the first, it still said pre-order. Got my tracking # on the fourth. How long is taking to get to the U.S.? Love the review on the Old Mate site.

Should last forever in this application as long as they don't get wet and rust. That would be Ceramic Hybrid. They do make full ceramic.

You could make the bearing a slide fit and the magnet holds it in place? Awesome device you made there. Can't wait to get mine.

Does a magnet hold onto the bearing?

I would remove the bearing if it's not too difficult.

Which grinder is easiest on the hands?

Yep. I have an Old Mate on order and my Lift has SS plate/screen and blade. I have all three. Tried them all, only use the medium now.

With full ceramic the magnet wouldn't hold the top on. The bearing it comes with is an ABEC 7, no need to upgrade?

Which grinder is easiest on the hands?

My Lift grinder is very easy on the hands. Looks like they will be available again in June. Wonder how many $400 stainless steel grinders they will sell. https://lift-innovations.com/collections/grinders/products/black-3-piece
