I have no experience, but if it were me I'd contact TM and see what they suggest.

I was actually thinking along the same lines. Like the backpressure holds the heat near the herb for longer, creating a bit of conduction (as you say). If I remember correctly, I believe the WPA wasn't as hot as usual either - lending credence to your hypothesis. I'll report back after...

I've seen some pictures of stems with plastic or rubber caps on the end to keep the dosing capsules from falling out. Can anybody advise where to shop them at?

I think an all-glass cooling unit similar to the TM provided metal CU would be sweet. Probably impractical to make tho.
